Why does every thread on here turn into something about the Lions??? lol

For this thread - no Lions talk!!!!!

How is everyone else travelling??

Hornets are young again yes, but we cant use that as an excuse now as they have all had a season of Prems etc...

Pre-season has been going well, some returning players, a few newbies, some rugby boys and some Magpies coming across, have all been very impressive and we are happy with the numbers we have been getting to trainings..... no matter how hard I trash em... they keep turning up which is a good sign!!

We played Pap the other day and were happy with what we saw. The Tigers were controlled well and Izic had them moving around the park where he wanted them. Might lack a bit of sting but I think they will make up for it with their controlling of the game etc.

Looking forward to a big year for our Jubliee year... I think most of the boys are actually more looking forward to the new strip!!!!!

I see the Keas have lost Dingo... anyone else?? Hows the pre-season been going AAKeas??

Which poses the next question... who is the next best hooker in Canterbury??? i.e. come Bulls time??

Whats the haps with the Northern Bulldogs (why the name change?) any trials? player losses, gains etc?? Was talking to Mathias's young fella on the weekend (real nice kid) and he mentioned that Mr Pitima might be back playing prems this year?? Will add some starch to the Doggies pack for sure.

Who have Hornby lost?? I heard apart from 1 or 2 that its pretty much the same squad with a couple of newbies and returning players to the Panther Lair??

Hows the Knights looking?? I know Jiggsy will be running their asses off at the mo as he loves pre-season!!

And the Eagles?? How is A-Town shaping up this year??? Started off good but fell away near the end of the season, injuries took their toll I think?? Most of the boys back B.Lima??

Should be a good season for sure... as every season is....

I sort of agree with someone elses comment - why not flag this pre-season tourny and add another round... but I suppose that would make it quite a long season then??

Pre-Season going good Trainer. We had Andrew Jackson (Ex-Bulls Strength and Conditioning coach) in last night to punish the boys with some 'good' drills. Good numbers and quite a few new faces in 18's and seniors which is great for the club. Yeah looks like we have lost Dingo (oz), Johnny (Vulcans), Kane (oz), Bambi (oz) and Ieni (oz) but there might be a few returning from this group.

We have Antonio Tuitaupe returning to us this year after a few games for the Eagles last year so he is a massive boost in the hooking department. Paul Sauni from the Lions is hoping to come over but they (Lions admin) are trying to hold him back apparently. Matt Holmes is also returning to League and is a quality half. Ricky Taukiri, Danny (Latu) Samuelu, Mark Nuu and Zack Dando are also some promising youngsters that have been training with us.

Looking forward to a big year ahead.

AA : Any news on whether Dingo, Kane, Bambi and Ieni are off to Oz for job offers or league offers?
Will miss watching them, but I am sure there will be a bunch of new talent coming thru.

I know Dingo is at Coffs Harbour Comets with Kyle Pauro... they won the Coffs Harbour 7s comp the other day... Souths Rabbitohs even had a team entered and Russell Crowe was there watching....

Murray - sorry... no Lions talk... feel free to comment on the other 57 Celebration Lions threads though.

We have all heard enough about the Lions....

Well said Trainer

Dingo (mainly work related but also playing footy), Bambi (League), Kane and Ieni (Work).

Definitely some good young players, new ones and returning ones. I disagree with Murray, next best hooker's around would definitely be Antonio or young Isaac Feala from the Eagles.

SUp trainer

some exciting things happening at the eagles despite massive key player losses

outgoing

Peter Asi(oz) JJ Smith(rugby) Josh Ka (rugby) Joe Sipa,Setima Pua'avase,Dabid Gower(all to Sydenham) Regan Marriot (papanui) Cameron Tukapua (inj)

incoming

Mark Gasnier (jus joking) no one yet

New coach new ideas new management hopin for a new attitude we were able to keep the core of our prems squad which will be more than enough to build on a few old schoolers back in the mix for one last hurrah.

Losing Pete is a massive blow very integral to the mentality of the team but will be a test of strength for the supporting players to fill up huge boots.

Jim Hema the new coach, there was speculation/conspiracy around his appointment but has been positive from the outset and has seemed to silence the naysayers.

Also fortunate to have our very own TRAINER!!!! Manny Feala has come on board and has "sassed" the boys all pre season.

Still having transfer troubles with a certain club not willing to let players go even though they have the roster from hell but oh well hoping arbitration meets will sort that out.

cheers for the update Mr Lima... good luck with it all....

I can see losing Pete would be a huge blow... his experience on the field and off it will be irreplaceable....

but losing players always opens up the door for others

looking forward to tussling with the Eagles again soon!!

and you have only just tip-toe'd the line regarding the mentioning of a certain club.... will let you off with just a warning though!!! lol

That sux Pete is going.

The Eagles are a totally different outfit when he is playing for sure. Him just being on the field lifts the rest of the boys.

All the best of luck for him going to Oz tho!

Seems like the panthers will be the team to beat again in 2010!

Good to hear Matt Holmes is back playing. He should be right up there with the best of the halves if he can regain some confidence.

Good stuff

thats pretty cool good stuff from the knights getting some fresh recruits.
you seem to notice more and more rugby guys coming over.

Definately league is the better product at the moment!

What about Jonny Limmer as best hooker? He has been a hooker playing at back row for bulls for a lot of years.

Yeah Stubble is definitely leading the Hornets around this year.... not sure of his position yet.. been running a bit in the centres and also at fullback but not sure where Phil will slot him in yet...

From my geezer tonight. The games were pretty entertaining. The Keas vs the East was pretty tough game, some mean as hits. Keas too strong in the end. Was it just me or are they missing quite a few from last year?still look mean tho. Siona unstoppable, Big winger Nuu was strong and Antz their hooker carved it up. Eagles will struggle this year I reckon. Sad but true. Missed quite a bit of Tigers game but Knights won I think. Both teams lack the size I reckon. Hornets upset the Panthers, must be a first. Hornets looked well drilled and have some good young blood there. Pombo and Butler looked like beasts. Beyers will have em firing when season comes. Lions looked like they were all over Dogs. Dogs looked terrible. Shud be interestin season.

Who the heck are you, Falcon...

Your first time on here, and all you can do is abuse someone.

Keep it league related...
You must be a sad little boy, or an angry little man who still lives with his mother...

Grow up and keep your comments to league...

that was pathetic...

It was great seeing Tonga back on the field for the Knights and his experience and 2 tries certainly made a big difference.
I couldnt believe how heavily strapped his knee was.... i didnt think he had his op yet, any Knights confirm that?

from what iv seen over the last few weeks the top 2 hookers would be kyle ruebon & jared neho both hav a great long n short kicking game aswell as a running game & direct there teams around the park well shane beyers looks a bit big ths year but is lookn good at 13 & i personally prefer lima at 13 although he has a good running game from dummy half. will be good 2 c who gets top spot 4 hooker this year but they are my picks

I think jared neho has been overlooked for too long. might be his year for the bulls. hes too dangerous from dummy half..

good for pap to get luke tama back, they will be a force this year with those seniors players back in the mould! im pretty sure brent has made it work with less...

anyone know what sam brown is up too? is he at the doggies?

Jared hasnt been over looked he was in the bulls squad last year but just had a bit of bad luck with injury, plus it must be pretty tough sitting behind Dingo. Bulls are mean but will struggle this year, have just lost too many players, but hopefully they can build up a bit of momentum for their upcoming centenary year which will be a cracker.
